Patricia Smith Obituary

SMITH, Patricia Joan, nee Bayliss, peacefully passed away at Qualicum Manor on July 23, 2019 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Victoria B.C. on December 26, 1928.

Patricia was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Frederick William Smith, and her parents William Albert Bayliss and Mary Elizabeth Bayliss.

Patricia will be remembered with love by her daughter Gaylan, son-in-law Terry, and daughter Jo-anne, grand children Olivia and her partner Tyler, Christopher and Tristan, great grand son Kai, her sisters Joyce and Sherry and her brother David and his wife Leslie, sister-in-law Evelyn, cousin Audrey, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was cherished by her family and friends who all have wonderful memories of her beautiful spirit and loving nature. She was the epitomy of kindness and grace and always found the positive side to everything. She was an inspiration to her family.

Particia was very artistic from a young age. She joyfully painted the beauty she saw all around her until the last month of her life. Pat worked as a calligrapher for the Hudson's Bay Company and for her family's business Bayliss Neon in Victoria. Her greatest sense of accomplishment was as a most wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She perfected the art of creating a beautiful and loving home.

Pat and Fred began their family in Victoria and then moved to Vancouver until Fred's retirement. They were delighted to return home where they lived in Broadmead for nearly 20 years. They enjoyed travelling extensively. Pat moved to Errington, B.C. after Fred's passing and lived with her daughter Gaylan and family for five lovely years.

Her family would like to thank the exceptionally kind and compassionate staff at Qualicum Manor who cared for her this last 5 years and who made her passing as gentle and peaceful as possible. A small family celebration will be held in the Autumn.

If anyone wishes to make a donation on Patricia's behalf, please consider the Alzheimers Society.
