Our Mum, Anne Julia Hill, was a force of nature, remaining true to her values and beliefs throughout her life. She was beautifully curious and precise about science, creatures, all things medical, and, most important, her relationship with God and walk with Christ. Anne kept herself well with healthy food and exercise right up until her final days, and always revelled in the beauty of nature and the love of friends and family. Her death has left a deep imprint on us, her grandchildren, sister, cousins, extended family and friends.

Anne was a proud and accomplished Registered Nurse who practiced in England, the USA and Canada, and remained a loving caregiver throughout her life. She was an advocate for many communities in Kingston, Parksville and Qualicum including newcomers, single parents and the churches that she was connected to over the years, supporting them with her wisdom, empathy and hard work.

Anne was an artist with a passion for embroidery and textiles, and a skilled gardener. Her art reflected her life in its expression of creativity that challenged conventions while maintaining elegance, and her gardens reflected her ability to nurture and grow.

Our Mum and gr’Anne instilled strong values in our family including justice, fairness, generosity, and kindness – which she mixed with healthy doses of humour and good-natured mischief – leaving a legacy that will live on through generations.
