Anne Nikon Obituary Surrounded by loved ones, Anne Marie Nikon passed away on September 23, 2024, after a
long and courageous battle with cancer. Anne was born in British Columbia on June 24,
1961. She was in her 63rd year. She had a playful, joyful spirit, was kind and generous, and
cared deeply about others and the earth. Predeceased by her parents, Frances and Peter
Nikon and dear friend Ozzie, she is survived by her loving wife of 5 years, Lynnett, her
stepson, siblings, beloved nieces, nephews, foster and extended family members. Anne is
lovingly remembered by these and other family, friends, colleagues, and the many people
whose lives she touched through the years.
Anne was a champion for many, including children, seniors, unhoused, and people with
disabilities. She worked tirelessly for their voices to be heard and for services that truly
met their needs. Anne devoted her professional life to advocating for people. She was
known for her compassion and innovation in creating opportunities for individuals to
grow. She had a passion for helping others learn, and she touched many lives through
accreditation and mentorship. Anne generously shared her expertise and found much joy
in helping people, whether as a front-line staff or executive director, surveyor, or licensing
officer. Anne was funny and kind, there to support and help you find a smile. At the time of
her passing, she served as licensing officer for Vancouver Island Health Authority with a
team she loved and work she valued and enjoyed.
Anne was an avid and skilled photographer, capturing the spirit of the moment in exquisite
detail in her nature photographs. Her Google photos achieved over 1.5 million views and
she was a "top photographer" on Google Maps. Her artistic side was also evident in her
poetry, quick wit, cartoon characters, and her numerous pallet creations. She loved to take
care of the land, chop wood, and maintain her Hobbit House. She loved baking cookies,
especially with her beloved niece, and later eating those cookies with her dear dog. She
enjoyed gathering with family, friends, and neighbours around the fire, sharing laughter,
food and fun when the work was done.
Annes hobbies had her exploring the wonder of this world. She loved to fish and spend
time in the water, whether ocean, lake or stream. She loved the mountains and spent many
weekends in the Canadian Rockies. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Europe and Asia
as well as throughout the United States and Canada. An avid camper and nature enthusiast,
she enjoyed lengthy road trips across Canada, from BC to Newfoundland and Labrador, as
well as up through the territories to the Arctic Ocean.
No memorial services are planned, in accordance with Annes wishes. The family suggests
