Arleigh was born in St. Anthonys Hospital at The Pas, Manitoba on October 15, 1931. Her early years were spent in Sheridan Manitoba, then her family moved to Dauphin where the Love families lived. Arleigh was the oldest of 29 cousins. She became a telephone operator in Dauphin and followed a dashing young man in uniform to Swan River. Gerry stole her heart and they were married in August of 1956. Gerry was in the RCMP and so Arleigh and their family moved to countless small towns in Manitoba for the next 24 years. They settled in Carberry where Arleigh opened up a small ceramic shop in her basement. After his retirement from the RCMP , Gerry became the Personal Manager for Carnation Food and they moved into a house they built in Carberry. Arleigh opened up a large ceramic shop and taught afternoon and evening classes to people in the surrounding area. She taught pottery to children in the local school for Mothers Day. The concept of the Harvest of Hobbies was promoted by her and over the years grew into a local event attracting many crafters from the area.
In 1995 Gerry retired and he and Arleigh moved to Parksville, BC on beautiful Vancouver Island. Arleigh joined the Rainbow Stew Cloggers and enjoyed years of clogging with friends. She also became a member of the Qualicum Beach senior center where she learned to play the ukulele and the group entertained in many care homes around Qualicum Beach and Parksville.
Arleigh was kind, and generous and had a compassionate heart. She was loved by everyone she knew but especially her family. Her passing has left big holes in her family and friends hearts. We will miss her and her wonderful sense of humour, smile and the laughter she shared with us. I love you. I miss you. "Tempus fugus".
