Barbara Alice
Faulkner
Jul 17, 1935 — May 28, 2026
Barbara Alice Faulkner passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on May 28, 2026.
Born in Birmingham, England, Barbara was the eighth of thirteen children to Arthur and Lily Potter. Growing up with so many siblings and very little else, Barbara became a force to be reckoned with. She stood up for what she believed in and didn’t get pushed around by anyone—especially her big brother.
Barbara was a kind, fair, and loving mother. She cared deeply about others and was generous with her time, love, friendship, and money. She worked hard, kept a lovely, clean home, and was a wonderful cook.
After retiring from her work as a secretary and shorthand typist, Barbara enjoyed travelling the world—mostly by bicycle. Always ready for an adventure, she took cycling trips through Ireland, England, South Africa, Cuba, Hawaii, Arizona, Mexico, and many parts of Western Canada, even in her sixties. She also loved gardening and spent time in her garden every day to stay active. She enjoyed watching and feeding hummingbirds, collected owl figurines, and loved reading all kinds of books.
Barbara enjoyed peace and quiet, but she also loved to talk and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone—often complete strangers. She was always willing to listen, offer a kind word, and support others. Although she struggled with loneliness in her later years, she continued to care deeply for the people around her.
We have lost a truly wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother.
Barbara is survived by her three daughters: Jayne, Lindy, and Louise; her four granddaughters: Sarah, Alison, Elizabeth, and Catherine; and her eight great‑grandchildren: Shaun, Kira, Kaya, Mason, Isabelle, Jasmine, Rhys, and Abigail. She is lovingly remembered by her extended family and many dear friends.
She will be greatly missed.
