Obituary

Brian Mose Obituary Brian Mose (aged 65) passed away suddenly, though doing what he loved late on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Surrounded by a dear friend and his beloved son-in-law, sports fishing on The Annalise II in Smith Sound. He was born in Ladysmith, BC to, and survived by, his darling parents, Anna Herdis (Ohlenschlager) & Ejlif Laurdisen Mose who had just recently immigrated to Vancouver Island from Denmark before he was born. A home country he remained deeply tethered to. Brian was a living Legend in the commercial fishing industry and continued paving a path that extends through generations. There are few people in his professional life who havent benefited from Brians passion, guidance, and leadership. His giving spirit, endless energy, and willingness to get his hands dirty regardless of the task, whether it be rebuilding a torn net, volunteering his vessel for a pilot monitoring program, taking someone to rehab, supporting people in their recovery, or standing up for the industry he cared passionately about. Brian always stepped up when needed, acted with integrity and respect, and never complained or expected anything in return. His passing has left a devastating loss amongst his fishing community and with many, many colleagues across the Globe. Naturally, his dedication in his personal life was certainly no less significant. He made family from friends and was always willing to build a longer table to include anyone seeking his love, guidance, protection, or friendship. He found people and made them his and took ownership of those needing support of any kind. Every language was his love language and every room he entered became his and safer, more bright, entertaining, and valuable with him in it. He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and profound way, and touched and changed many, many lives. Brian is survived by the love of his life, Victoria Lynn Mose who he was truly dedicated to making dreams come true; his relentlessly adoring children; Dane Christian (Barbara), Amanda Jane (Dustin), and Kale Brian (Jessica); the utmost treasures of his life, his beautiful grandbabies; Lola Mona May, Annalise Nadeine Faye, Brienna Christian Rose, Silas Ejlif and Scarlett Amanda Lyanna. He was deeply bound to his love of animals and the many precious dogs in his life; now joining his dearest Wag and survived by his all-doting Bumper, and Walle & Scotchie. He is also survived by his cherished Siblings; Harry (Denise), Allan (Beverly) and Jane (Shawn) and admiring Nieces & Nephews; Allan, Richard, Alison, Daniel, Curtis, Jennica, Corey, Jeremy, Capri and Jordan and their respective children and grandchildren. He was deeply and uniquely connected to so many in the very large Mose family, his loss to us is unsurmountable, but he was so powerful then that his love and protection undoubtedly remains with us now. A true Inspiration. A private family gathering was held Sunday, August 25th in Qualicum Beach. A Celebration of Brians life will be held on Saturday, September 28th from 1-5 in the Benson Ballroom at the Vancouver Island Conference Center in Nanaimo. All wishing to honor his life are welcome. A loss fathoms deep may threaten to define, But even the unfathomable pain, heals over time. For immense pain is the cost of profound love, And things left unsaid, think nothing of. His guidance is with us, his love woven in our souls, His presence remains amongst these potholes. He left us the safest place, for our hearts to break, He reminds us to find balance in this massive earth shake. And with him, we will clear away the cobwebs and the sorrow, The sun will most certainly come out tomorrow, And in each other, we have his strength to borrow, Always behind us, he will follow. Now we lay Our King in the most loving repose, Yet wherever we are, we know he goes. Obituary and Poem written with the most unconditional Love and Honor a daddys girl could have Amanda (Mose) Speed
