In Loving Memory of Cory Matthew Broker

Cory Matthew Broker was born on February 7, 1983, in Vancouver, British Columbia, and passed away peacefully in hospice with his sister by his side on February 3, 2026, after a courageous and hard-fought three-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by love, and while our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering.

Cory lived life with passion, creativity, and an unmistakable spark for music and acting. From a young age, he found joy behind the camera and on the stage, eventually attending the Victoria Motion Picture Film School. Acting was more than a hobby for Cory — it was a lifelong love that saw him perform in many plays and creative projects over the years. Whether on stage, behind a lens, or belting out his favorite songs during karaoke nights, Cory had a way of lighting up a room and drawing people in.

An avid golfer, Cory treasured the countless hours spent at Crown Isle, where he made lasting memories both on and off the course. Crown Isle was not only a place of recreation for Cory, but also a community he proudly called home. He worked for many years at the Timber Room Pub, where his warmth, and easygoing nature made him a familiar and beloved presence.

Cory was predeceased by his Nana (Dorothy), Opa (George), and Oma (Hilley). He is survived and deeply missed by his mother Victoria, his father Matthys (Fergie), his sister Jody, and his brother James. He will also be lovingly remembered by his aunts Hayley and Wendy; uncles John (Marilyn) and Gary (Cynthia); cousins Randall, Rachel, Amanda, Merissa, and Alexander; his nieces Emmalyn Kaia and Ashley; and his nephews Landon, Knox, and Huck.

Thank you to Cory's numerous and devoted friends who have been unwavering with their support and generosity over these past few years. Cory's lifelong friendship with Jeremy was truly one in a million — a bond built on loyalty, laughter, and years of shared memories that will never be forgotten.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice staff in Courtenay, as well as Cory's compassionate nurses, palliative and oncology teams in both Courtenay and Vancouver, for their exceptional care, kindness, and support during this difficult journey.

Cory will be remembered for his creative carefree spirit, his love of music, film and sports, his dedication to his friends and family, and the immense strength and perseverance he showed throughout his illness. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on forever in our hearts.

A celebration of life to honour Cory will be held March 7th at 3pm at Crown Isle Resort and Golf Community in Courtenay, BC.
