Obituary

Dorothy MacMillan Obituary Dorothy Jean "Jeannie" MacMillan (nee Boyle) peacefully passed away at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on February 5, 2021 at the age of 79 years. Jean was born in Toronto, Ont., on April 29, 1941 to Stanley Boyle and Jean Pinchin. She spent her early childhood in Toronto with Mommie Dorrie and family, with help from other aunts, uncles and cousins. For her elementary and secondary years she lived in Quebec City with her father and second mother, Maxine and her siblings Beverly and Bob. After graduating from UNB in 1963, Jean returned home to Quebec City and married Kirke MacMillan. In 1965 they moved to Prince George, where they had two daughters. In 1986 Jean and Kirke moved their family to Tsawwassen. They retired happily to Nanoose Bay in 2002, where they both enjoyed sharing dinners with friends and looking out the great room window at the eagles and seagulls flying over Craig Bay. Jean loved walking, connecting with friends and family, and quilting with the Madrona Ladies. She also enjoyed travelling, and in her later years always looked forward to her trips to see extended family in Ontario. Jean was a loving wife to Kirke, her husband of 57 years; a devoted mother to Leslie Jean (James) of Smithers, BC and Jennifer Louise (Alex) of Castlegar, BC and a doting grandmother to Kayleigh, Emma, Rachel, Mika and Teija. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to BC Childrens Hospital or the Rick Hansen institute.
