It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Duane Lawrenuk - devoted husband, proud father, loyal friend, and the steady foundation of our family.

Born in Drumheller and later making his home in Qualicum Beach, Duane built a life defined by hard work, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved most. For more than 26 years, he owned and operated Coast Auto Service in Qualicum Beach, earning the trust of his community not only as a skilled mechanic, but as a man of integrity whose word meant something.

His passions were simple and wholehearted. He was an avid golfer who cherished the camaraderie of the fairway.

He loved cars - his Ferrari and Corvette brought him joy, and nothing lit him up more than supporting his children at the racetrack, cheering them on, and sharing his deep knowledge and love of mechanics. Those years were among his proudest.

At home, you could find him clearing snow for the whole neighbourhood with his tractor before anyone asked. He was a provider in every sense of the word. His hands built a business, maintained engines, and created a life of stability and security for his family.

Above all else, Duane loved his family fiercely. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Laurie; his children, Jennifer and Kevin; and a wide circle of extended family and friends whose lives are better for having known him. He was predeceased by his father, William, his sister, Elizabeth, and his brother, Dale.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no memorial service.

Though our hearts ache in his absence, we carry forward the love he gave so freely.

Somewhere, we like to believe, the fairway is long, the engine runs smooth, and fresh snow is waiting to be cleared by him on his John Deere.
