Elfriede Niessen (nee Naguschewski) passed away peacefully at the Nanaimo Hospital on

Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the age of 96 years. Born in East Prussia on January 5, 1929,

she was predeceased by her parents, Bertha and Adolf, her husband Jake, her son Roy, and her

siblings Walter, Helmut, Doris, Anneliese, Hannah, and Siegfried. Lovingly remembered by

daughter Lily (Paul), sister Irmgard (Bernie, Sue & Casca), daughter-in-law Becky,

grandchildren Sarah and Matthew, Kevin, and great-grandchildren Emmerich and Hendrix,

Blakely, and Von.

The building she lived in for 37 years had a swimming pool, and up until March, 2020, when

they closed the pool due to covid, swimming was part of mom's daily routine. We believe that

contributed to her longevity. RIP, mom – you've earned it. We'll miss you every day, but you'll

be in our hearts forever.
