Ernest Smart Obituary In loving Memory of Ernest Bunny Weeks Smart (Ernie) March 13, 1944 - June 04, 2023 Ernie passed away suddenly after a short illness on June 4th, 2023 at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital I.C.U. Beloved husband to his wife Trudy Smart, and loving father to his Daughters Jennifer Smart, Tricia Campell, and Step-Son Jeffrey Smith (Ixchel). Grandfather to his adored and loved grandchildren Sophie and Heydon Campbell. Ernie will be sadly missed by his brothers Alex Smart and Ronald Smart as well as his sister-in law Diane Carruthers(Don) and his brother-in-law Barry Kreller(Lynne) all of whom he loved deeply. He also loved and was loved by many Nieces and Nephews. He is predeceased by his first Wife Pat, his Sisters Nita Dowman and Vivian Patterson, his brothers Bob and David Smart and great nephew David Patterson. Ernie was born in Regina, Sask., and lived many years in Victoria and Campbell River working in the Pulp and Paper Industry. He spent the last 10 years in Parksville. Trudy and Ernie had a mutual admiration and deep love for each other, they lived a life that made them both joyful. Ernie was always sincere, and true to himself, he had a delightful sense of humor and a great respect for mankind. When Ernie was in the room he brought the world of nature, forest, mountains, hunting and fishing into the conversation. He enjoyed the outdoors so much. His passion for hunting (after his best Friend Morley Wilson died) continued and he was so grateful to his nephew Patrick Kreller for making this possible. Ernie enjoyed his Monday and Thursday afternoons at the Qualicum Legion, playing pool with his Legion Buddies. He will be loved and missed by so many.
