James 'Colin' Evans Obituary In Loving Memory Of Colin Evans (James Colin Christie Evans) Born May 30, 1933 in Kimberley BC Passed away peacefully on Jan 11, 2024 at 90 years old. Colin is survived by the love of his life and soulmate Lorna Evans (Rowse). He was the best Dad to Pam Evans & Jane Brison (Nelson); The best Papa to Chris Brison (Christie), Jessica Brison (Evan), & Carly Brison; and the best Great Papa to Chris & Christies 3 Children Roselyn, Arthur, Oliver. Colin was a loving big brother to his sister Barbara Kelland (David) and Uncle to their 3 children Chris, Allison, and Susan. Colin spent his life taking care of others. His first love and commitment was to his family. He worked hard to ensure a full and comfortable life for them all. He dedicated much of his life to helping people less fortunate than him, and making this world a better place: he never stopped trying to save the world, piece by tiny piece. He started his working life on the farms and in the Cominco mine in Kimberley but quickly moved on to work for the Ambulance service and Kimberley Fire Department. When our family moved to West Vancouver (Lornas hometown) he worked as the Assistant Commissioner of the Red Cross for BC and the Yukon and traveled extensively in the province as well as internationally to Peru and India to provide aid when natural disasters struck. He did a short term as a political fundraiser which he was very good at but it was not for him thats when he became the Fire Chief of West Vancouver, (as well as the BC Disaster/Recovery coordinator). He remained Fire Chief until his retirement in 1993. He did take a leave in the mid 70s to work with Dr Hugh Keenleyside on a study to improve Firefighting in BC at the request of the Attorney General. He was amazed that Dr Keenleyside would want his help (we werent) and loved working with him on this project. Colin had many great stories and memories of traveling the world with Lorna and with his family, as well as for work. Colin and Lorna had a great love for boating and loved to spend time on the water with their family and friends. Colin had a great love for all horses and Dogs, but especially the ones he was fortunate enough to share his life with. He was a member of the Legion, a Mason and a proud member of the Shriners. He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and grandpup Ruby. "And I thought to myself, what a wonderful world"
