Obituary

Janice Carey Obituary It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of by beloved mom Janice Vera Carey, who left us far too soon on June 14, 2024, at the age of 60. Born on November 8, 1963, in Prince George, Janice was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, who brightened the lives of everyone she encountered. Janice had a remarkable journey through life, filled with both challenges and triumphs. She embraced education later in life, bravely returning to school, and cultivated a deep love for reading that stayed with her throughout her years. Her thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm was an inspiration to those around her. Jancy (as she was loving called) was a devoted mother to her children, Brittany Meads (Richard), and Tyler Carey but her deepest devotion shone with her grandchildren Sonora, Waylan, (Brittany) and Lincoln, and Stella (Tyler.) She poured her heart and soul into her family, and her love for her children and grandchildren was evident in every aspect of her life. She was a source of unwavering support and encouragement, ensuring her loved ones always felt her fierce loyalty. Professionally, Janice found joy in her work, often alongside her daughter. She brought laughter and light to every workplace, embodying a spirit that was as infectious as it was challenging at times. Her remarkable ability to connect with people left a lasting impact on her colleagues, friends, and family. Janice possessed a vibrant personality, characterized by her bold glasses and even bolder spirit. She was unapologetically herself, with an unforgettable laugh that echoed in the hearts of those who knew her. Her zest for life was reflected in her many interests, including gardening, flowers, knitting, quilting, exploring new places, trying different foods, and savoring a good glassor perhaps a bottleof red wine. She created the most magical moments and delicious holiday meals for her family and was always up for a new adventure or road trip. In her community, Janice always dreamed of giving back, hoping to volunteer at children's hospitals or assist with literacy programs in schools upon her retirement. Her desire to help others was a testament to the kindness that defined her character. Janice is preceded in death by her grandmother Vera Reid, her mother, Mary Reid, and her sibling Debbie Hadley. She is survived by her cherished children and grandchildren, who will carry her spirit forward in their lives. She is looking admirably down on her grandchildren while cradling an angel baby in her arms. As we bid farewell to Janice, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Nanaimo Regional General ICU for their compassionate care during her final days. A private funeral service will be held to honor Janice's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages a nice glass of wine, or simply sharing a laugh with those you love. Mom will be forever remembered for her warmth, humor, and indomitable spirit. Her love will continue to shine through her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her. As she knit us together in closeness, our love for each other and her will live on forever.
