Jess Billingsley Obituary April 18, 1957 - August 17, 2023 In Loving Memory ~ It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jess Billingsley on August 17, 2023, on Vancouver Island. Jess was a source of love and inspiration to all who knew her. Born Marie Helen Ghislaine Besner in Ottawa on April 18, 1957, she met her lifelong partner, Scott, during their university years in Saskatoon. Together, they forged a remarkable bond that endured through time and trials. They eventually settled in Calgary, where Jess dedicated herself to raising her two sons, Jonathan and James, with unwavering devotion. Jess found happiness and peace retiring on Vancouver Island. Her more recent role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, and she cherished her time with her beloved granddaughters, Clara and Grace. Jess leaves behind lifelong memories in the hearts of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, sons, granddaughters, daughter-in-law Xiaoshan, siblings Claudette, Norm, and Serge, mother Aline, and her extended family, including brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Zena, Deidre and Greg, Rae and Greg, Dean and Tara, their families, as well as her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is predeceased by her father Hubert. Her circle of family and friends extended from coast to coast, reaching across the country and beyond. Jess' nurturing spirit and unconditional love shaped the lives of those around her. A true friend to all, Jess had an innate ability to form deep connections wherever she went. As we mourn the loss of Jess Billingsley, let us remember her for the warmth she brought to every life she touched. Her legacy of love and joy will forever remain in our hearts. A celebration of life for Jess will be held at the Qualicum Beach Inn on September 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the BC Cancer Foundation in memory of Jess.
