It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of John Francis Kingston, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
John passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Nanaimo, British Columbia, at the age of 74 following a battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Born in Newcastle, New Brunswick, John’s life was filled with kindness, generosity, and an adventurous spirit. He was a man who embraced life fully and brought joy to those around him with his great sense of humor and loving nature.
A devoted family man, John cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. John is survived by his loving wife Joy; his daughter Charlotte and her wife Whitney; and his treasured grandchildren Astrid and Felix. He also leaves behind his brother Mark Kingston, and sister Heather Murphy. He was predeceased by his mother Marjorie Kingston, his father Patrick Kingston and his beloved sister Patsy Prince.
John’s family meant everything to him, and he found immense happiness in creating memories with them—especially enjoying fun-filled moments with his grandchildren.
An avid gardener and music lover, John found peace and inspiration in tending to his garden while listening to his favorite tunes. He had a passion for playing cards and loved traveling to explore new places.
His adventurous spirit was matched only by the warmth he shared with everyone he met. John’s legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his loss.
A gathering will be held to honor John's life in Qualicum Beach on Sunday, June 28th at 2pm at Tigh Na Mara Resort in the the Grand Strathcona Room.
A celebration of life will be held on the Miramichi on August 15th at the Chatham Legion.
