Joyce Goliath Obituary In Loving Memory Of
Joyce Robin Goliath (ne Butler)
April 15, 1940 April 25, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Goliath on April 25, 2025, at Oceanside Hospice at Trillium Lodge in Parksville, B.C., after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 85 years old.
Joyce was born on April 15, 1940, in Marcelin, Saskatchewan, to Robin and Ida Butler. She was raised on the family farm alongside her siblings Dale, Beatrice (Bunny), Patricia (Patti), and Lowell and carried the values of hard work, compassion, and resilience throughout her life.
She pursued her calling in healthcare, graduating with her nursing degree from St. Pauls Hospital in 1966. Joyce spent her early career working as a dedicated Registered Nurse in Saskatchewan before moving to Port Alberni with her husband Ernest (Ernie) where she raised two daughters, Andrea and Alison.
An entrepreneur at heart, Joyce opened and operated Class Act, a beloved china and giftware store in Port Alberni, which she later moved to Parksville. Her eye for beauty and her kind, welcoming nature made her shop a staple of the community and a reflection of her own class and grace.
She loved hosting dinner parties with friends, had an incredible flair for fashion and interior design, was a master of Suduko, a huge fan of Formula 1 and made the best tiramisu on the planet.
Joyce is lovingly remembered by her daughters Andrea Mercer (Gus) and Alison Goliath, her cherished grandchildren Jordyn Ainsley Mercer and Taryn Mercer, and her brothers Dale and Lowell, extended family and countless close friends that were like family to her. She was predeceased by her parents Robin and Ida, her siblings Bernice (Bunny) and Patricia (Patti), and her former husband, Ernie Goliath.
Joyce will be remembered for her elegance, warmth, strength, and kindness - she really was a Class Act.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oceanside Hospice Trillium Lodge in gratitude for their compassionate care or the BC Cancer Society.
