Mark Christie Obituary Mark David Christie
May 17, 1960 - March 22, 2025
Mark was raised in Richmond, BC, and moved to Ladner after marrying his high school
sweetheart, Irene (nee Honigman). Marks passion for flying began at an early age as
he pursued his training immediately after graduation. He obtained his helicopter pilots
license in 1981, followed by his helicopter and fixed-wing engineering certification soon
after. This rare combination of abilities made him a sought-after employee and allowed
him to gain employment in the aviation departments of BC Forest Products, MacMillan
Bloedel, Fletcher Challenge, Omega Aviation, and the RCMP Vancouver Air Services,
where he retired from his career.
In 2003, Mark and his family moved to Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island,
commuting weekly between the Lower Mainland and his beloved new home. Over his
lifetime, Mark enjoyed water skiing, playing pick up hockey, badminton and more
recently pickle ball and golfing with friends at Memorial Golf course. He also
volunteered to coach his daughters soccer team. His favourite places to travel were
Ruxton Island, Sheridan Lake and Maui. Mark recently enjoyed his seasonal job doing
lawn maintenance at Pheasant Glen because driving around in cool vehicles was also a
favourite past-time for Mark.
Mark is survived by his lifelong love, Irene, his three children, Sarah (Paul), Justin
(Kaisha) and Travis; five grandchildren with one more due in August; his two sisters,
Gail (Neil) and his twin Darlene (Doug) and brother and sister-in-laws, many nieces and
nephews and his mother-in-law. Mark will be forever missed by many.
