Murray 'Joe' Mault Obituary In Loving Memory Of Murray Joseph Mault 1954-2025 Murray Joseph Mault passed away in Qualicum Beach, BC, on April 23, 2025, at the age of 70. Known affectionately as "Joe" to his family, he was born in Saskatoon on November 24, 1954, to James and Mary (Dickson) Mault. He was the youngest of their thirteen children and would often say that his parents quit "when they got it right." He had many happy reminiscences of growing up in the Riversdale neighbourhood, surrounded by lots of people and enjoying his familys Friday night gatherings, an experience which certainly shaped his gregarious nature. Murray attended school in Saskatoon and after graduation moved to Kamloops where he attended Thompson Rivers University, receiving a certificate in accounting, which he would make his career. His keen intelligence and concern for people meant that he always did the best for his tax and bookkeeping clients in his private practice, sometimes delivering tax results with a consolatory dram of scotch. After a stint in Victoria and a year at the Benedictine abbey in Mission, BC, he returned to Saskatoon. It was there in 1987 that he met the partner who would share the rest of his life with him, a relationship confirmed by their Valentines Day marriage in 2009. When asked why he returned to Saskatoon, Murray would answer that God brought him there to meet Robert. Their home in City Park was a welcoming place for family and friends. Murray loved nothing more than having people over for drinks and dinner, where he would regale them with stories. When he and Robert moved to Qualicum Beach in 2020, Murray embraced his new surroundings, walking, exploring and taking stunning photographs. Murray never ceased learning. He was a voracious reader, an avid cinephile, and a lover of art and music from all genres and eras, with Joni Mitchell being at the top of his pantheon. Everyone remembers his wonderful sense of humour and his ability to find hilarity in the surreal and silly. Murray lived bravely with cancer for 17 years. Rather than allowing his diagnosis to defeat him, he embraced life and made the most of his time. He and Robert were fortunate to travel extensively, from boating on Loch Ness and the canals of Bruges to trekking up the Acropolis and a Belizean pyramid. Joe especially loved his many trips to Peggie and Gils in Grand Cayman where he soaked up the sun on the beach, his favourite place. Murray (Joe) was predeceased by his parents; sisters Patricia (Ashton) and Judith Mault; brothers Bud, Terry, Jack, Dennis, Gerry and an infant brother. He will live on in the hearts of his loving husband Robert Clark; his adored sister Margaret (Gil Plamondon); brothers Ross, Glen and Greg (Francine); his father-in-law Bill Clark and brother-in-law Paul Clark (Maureen); as well as many nieces, nephews and friends, especially his special walking buddy Lee Ann Wesley. Cremation. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Qualicum Beach Cemetery, 687 Jones Street, Qualicum Beach, followed by a reception at the Rotary House, 211 Fern Road West, Qualicum Beach.
