Obituary

Randy Robert Irvine passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on February 19, 2026, at the Nanaimo Hospital.

Randy was born in Central Butte, Saskatchewan on September 5, 1954, and grew up in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Randy graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1979. He worked as a petroleum engineer in the prairies and retired in 2016. He and his wife retired to Qualicum Beach, B.C. in 2017.

He married Irene Simpson and together they raised a family in Calgary, Alberta. He was a devoted husband and a loving father to his children, Christina and Tristan. He enjoyed travelling the world with his family and loved exploring fine foods and wines. His lifelong love of music made Randy a music trivia whiz and a late blooming guitarist. He enjoyed retirement by meeting many friends and working on his 1947 Buick and 1955 Pontiac. Randy will be remembered for his great passion for cars, especially street rods, his wonderful sense of humor and his commitment to family.

Randy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Irene, his children Christina and Tristan (Alex), his siblings Marlowe (Sandra), and Melanie (Erwin) and his nieces Tatiana (Mike) and Rhonynn. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Thelma (Ford) Irvine, and his sister Corinne.

There will be a celebration of life for Randy on Friday April 10, 2026 at 2:00pm at the Qualicum Beach Inn.
