Obituary

Shona Hooking Obituary Our beloved mother, Shona Hookings passed away peacefully in her home on February 15, 2019. She will be dearly missed and mourned by daughters Susan (Quincy), Anne (Alan) and Joyce (Kevin), nieces Nancy and Cathy and granddaughters, Meghan and Shannon. Shona was born in Toronto on March 1, 1920 to Anna and James Behan. She and her brother Doug were raised in Mount Royal, Quebec. Shona married the love of her life, Paul in 1945 and they settled in North Vancouver where they raised their three daughters. Shona and Paul lived across Canada in Edmonton, Southern Ontario and finally in Qualicum Beach. Shona was actively involved in local volunteer work throughout her life, most recently with Milner Gardens, Trillium Lodge, the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons, and Probus. She enjoyed participating in sports such as tennis, curling, golf and lawn bowling, and was a lifelong gardener. She and Paul enjoyed travel in their retirement years, from Alaska to the Panama Canal and Europe, South Africa and the Philipines. Shona will be remembered for her kindness, grace, vitality and zest for life, and her keen interest in others and the world around her. The family is grateful to the staff of Hawthorne and to Dr. Biglow for the wonderful care they all provided Shona. Shonas life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2 nd, at 2 pm at St. Marks Anglican Church, 138 West Hoy Lake Road, Qualicum Beach. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the SPCA or the Shriners Childrens Hospitals.
