With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Yvon Joseph Essiambre, who departed this world on January 31, 2025, at Nanaimo Hospital. Born on May 3, 1929, in Gaspsie, Quebec, Yvon was a self-taught individual with an incredible work ethic. He began his career working as an electrician in the mines of Quebec before moving to British Columbia to work as an Anaconda miner at Britannia Beach.
At the young age of 20, Yvon married his beloved Simone Pepin on February 23, 1950, in Val-Senneville, Quebec. Their enduring love and devotion carried them through 75 wonderful years of marriage, a testament to their unwavering bond.
Yvon was a proud and loving father to nine children: Mike Pierre (deceased) (wife Victoria), John, Diane, Roger, Susanne, Real, Linda, and Morris (deceased). His family extended to 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
He was predeceased by his five brothers, and is survived by his two sisters in Quebec. Yvon spent the last eight years of his life living in The Gardens and spent nine months living with his daughter Diane before his passing. For 59 years, he called Squamish, BC his home, a place where he formed countless cherished memories, but eventually made his way to Vancouver Island for the remainder of his years.
Yvon was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. His warm smile and compassionate spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. He was deeply loved and will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
Rest in peace, Yvon. Your legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in our hearts.
