Brian Wilmot Obituary

Brian Heath Wilmot (Knipe)

29 November 1967 – 26 Aug 2022

Brian was born at Saint-Eustache, Quebec the youngest of six siblings.  He spent his younger years in Montreal and later in Ottawa.  In 1986 he relocated to Vancouver to live with his brother Bruce, along with his mother Violet who suffered from MS, his sister Valerie and her daughter Tammy, leaving in Ottawa two sisters Cynthia and Brenda and their families,.  A few years later the family moved to Maple Ridge.

Brian had a keen sense of learning and throughout his working life acquired a great deal knowledge through the various types of employment he sought. He was employed in a number of diverse situations from: roofing, to upholstery, to managing the meat counter at a local Safeway store and manager of the electrical department of a Home Depot outlet.  While working full-time he was also progressed his post-secondary studies leading to special education with children and early teens.  He moved to the Okanagan and was employed as supervisor/caregiver with the Central Okanagan Head Injury Society.  He returned to Maple Ridge working full-time and acting as primary caregiver to his mother.

Brain’s greatest satisfaction was his time employed with School District #75 in Mission as a Special Ed teacher working with children and young adults.

In 2016 he met his partner Wil and while visiting Vancouver Island he was involved in an automobile accident in which he sustained a serious back injury.  This combined with other health issues led him into early retirement.

Brain leaves to mourn his passing: partner Wil, brothers Bruce (Hélène), William, sisters Cynthia (Frank), Valerie, and Brenda and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life to be held at his home in Bowser 17 September, 2022 with private interment of ashes in Maple Ridge at a later date.
