Christopher Read Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Christopher James Read. Chris passed away at the age of 37 on December 12, 2020.

Chris is survived by Michelle and his sons Caden and Cole, his mother Beverly and his father Peter (Janis), his sister Jennifer (Michael), his half-brother Jaxon, his niece Morgan and nephew Andrew. His aunts Gerri (Colin), Nancy, Carolyn (Kirk) as well as his cousins Barbara, Sarah, Blake, Scott, Derek, Justin and many friends.

Chris is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Clifford and Hazel Pittman, his paternal grandparents Sid and Annie Read, and his aunt Patricia Read.

Chris was born on September 26, 1983 in Yellowknife, NT. Chris spent his first few years growing up in Yellowknife and Selkirk. He attended school in Lockport and Selkirk, MB, and then went on to Red River College where he studied welding. He spent some time living in Grand Prairie, AB where he worked doing welding on pipelines. Chris was very good at welding and his colleagues often looked to him for advice; eventually he started his own welding company. He later moved to Vancouver Island where he was working doing tiling and really enjoyed using his skills in a creative way. Chris was an amazing Dad and he was so proud of his 2 boys and always loved talking about their latest milestones.

Chris is fondly remembered as a fun loving and kind person. He loved adventures with his boys, fishing, cooking and his dog Bruiser. Chris had the best sense of humour and always had a good joke or anecdote to provide. He will be greatly missed by so many people.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of his life will be held at a later time when it is safe to gather.
