Debra Biden Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Debra Ann Biden has passed away on September 30, 2020 at the age of 62. Debbie was born on April 12, 1958 in Kincaid, Saskatchewan, to her parents George and Marjorie Steininger. Her father worked as a Station Agent for the Canadian Pacific Railway, so their family moved many times before eventually settling down in Indian Head, Sask. Debbie lived there until she was in her 20s, and followed in her moms footsteps and attended hairdressing school in Regina. In the 1980s Debbie traveled out west to BC to see her brother Darrel perform shows as a pianist, and to visit her other brother David. Debbie was always a proud prairie girl even after moving out to the West Coast. She settled in Victoria, and completed her Barbering certification.  During this time her parents moved out from Saskatchewan to nearby Sidney, so Debbie spent much of her time with them as well as her nephew Jamie Steininger.  It was in Victoria that she met her first husband, Greg Biden. On March 4, 1986 they welcomed their first daughter Whitney. Eventually the family moved up Island to Bowser where Debbie worked at the local post office delivering mail. On January 16, 1991, their second daughter Rhiannon was born. Debbie returned to doing hair, which she continued to do up until she was no longer able to earlier this year. Deb loved living in Bowser and was active in her community. In 1998 Debbie met her husband and best friend Wayne. They enjoyed working in their yard, spending quality time with family and friends and traveling and adventuring together. Debbie and Wayne found strength and comfort in each other and overcame many obstacles together. Deb was a very social person and had friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed spending time in nature; walking, gardening, exploring the beach or sitting by the river. Her calming and comforting personality drew people to her. Debbie was the most positive, supportive, kind hearted, ray of sunshine that we were so fortunate to have in our lives. She loved her family more than anything and was a proud grandma to Khyana(13) and Grayson(1.5). Even throughout her 4 year battle with lung cancer, she was smiling, cheerful and constantly fighting hard. She will be remembered by her infectious smile, her warm, compassionate spirit, and her green thumb among many other things. Debbie was predeceased by her brother Darrel Steininger(1951-1988), father George Steininger(1923-1994), ex husband Greg Biden(1949-2001), step father David Partridge(1920-2010) and mother Marjorie Partridge(1927-2020), as well as many other close relatives and friends. She will be missed by so many, as she made an impact on everyone she met. We will miss you and love you forever.

We would like to thank the Canadian Cancer Society, Oceanside Hospice Society, all of Debbie’s doctors along the way, the team at Memorial Compounding Centre, Qualicum Beach Memorial Services and the many people that have reached out with love and support. There will be a celebration of life held for Debbie in the spring.
