Jean Nellie Fitzpatrick

Jean Fitzpatrick, passed peacefully July 6, 2022 with husband Ron, at her side.  

Jean impacted many people in this world & certainly left it a brighter place with her art and an "anything is possible" attitude. 

A talented painter who wasn't afraid to try woodblocks, water colours & textiles, Jean also outfitted many beds with hand stitched beautiful quilts.  

Jean liked to get her hands dirty creating gardens that were beautiful and functional,  bringing her artist's eye to everything. 

As Mother & Grandmother, she impacted all her kids; Paul, Mark, Sean and Jenny as well as her grandchildren, scattered around the world living & contributing as she taught. 

A timeline of Jean

February 13, 1940

Born in Winnipeg, Jean Nellie Metza, grew up in Hudson ON as a proud Ukrainian Canadian.

1957

At 18 Jean went to business college in Thunder Bay ON.

1958

Jean became an Air Woman with the Royal Canadian Airforce. Stationed in Metz, France, she met Ron, her husband & birthed Paul and Mark.

1964 - Returned to Canada

In Canada, Jean gave birth to Sean & Jenny joined the family shortly after.

1980’s

Life was filled with artwork, crafting & growing a family & her own business - Northcraft Textiles.

1990’s

After selling Northcraft, Jean did Real Estate and in the mid 90’s she & Ron retire on Vancouver Island.

2000’s

Jean involved herself in the art world & as a recognized artist, showed & sold many pieces. 

Jean loved, trained & showed her Samoyed dogs successfully in competitions.

She & Ron travelled with family across the world.

2014 and beyond

Jean slowed but with a smile, sharing knowledge with Grandkids & just a wonderful person to be with in her gardens.
