LIILA ("LYLA") WINCH passed away suddenly in her 97th year at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital to be with her Lord on November 30, 2023.
Lyla was born in Burgessville, Ontario on March 1, 1926.
SURVIVED by her loving son, Russell Leavens, and her loving stepchildren, Carol Morris, Susan Menchenton and Debby Winch as well as her more distant Ontario relations, Doctor Ralph Hollands, Betty Thomas and Cristene Laugher.
PREDECEASED by her dear parents, Russell and Nettie Lampkin, her loving husband, Michael Winch and her dearly cherished daughter, Cheryl Flinn.
LYLA worked at many jobs over the years to support her children including as a district supervisor with Avon Canada in Nova Scotia and as a senior secretary to a professional engineering firm.
LYLA was a loving mother and enjoyed badminton and the many activities and trips over the years with her friends, relatives and her departed husband.
MANY THANKS to all the staff and friends at the Berwick in Qualicum Beach where Lyla resided since 2019. Special thanks to the staff whose kindness and attention allowed Lyla to live her final years in luxurious retirement. Also a special thankyou to Lyla's Berwick boyfriend, "Ken" who was her delightful and helpful companion.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Qualicum Community Baptist Church, 600 Beach Road on Wednesday January 24th, 2024 at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
