Manfred, age 86, died peacefully in his greenhouse at home on December 12th, one of his most loved and favourite spots. His family knew him in many different ways. A great gardener, landscaper with an endless amount of tools, barns, machinery and a greenhouse to support that. He always had homemade wine and beer brewing and ready to drink. He loved fishing and boating, and his biggest passion was having land and clearing it to the way he dreamed it should look. But most of all we remember that he lived his life the way he wanted to and didn't change for anyone.
Born in Czech Republic, and grew up in Germany with four sisters and two brothers, our father immigrated to Canada as a young man, at first, working in forestry in Northern Ontario. A few years later, he moved to Southern Ontario to marry and raise a family of four children, while working in landscaping. After retirement, he moved to Qualicum Beach where he lived out the rest of his life; gardening and working on his land every single day. Survived by partner Hilary, his four children Eric, Irene, Robert, and Betty, six grand-children, and three great grand-children. To our relatives in Germany, our deepest sympathies for the loss of your beloved one. Love, your Canadian family.
