Sandra Taylor Obituary

At Trillium Lodge Hospice, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Sandra ~ Alexandria Elizabeth Taylor of Qualicum Beach, BC departed peacefully from this life. Sandra was born on October 23, 1933, in Timmins, Ontario.

Loving wife of Peter David Taylor. Sandra met Peter, the love of her life 74 years ago in London, Ontario and they were married for 72 blissful years. The conversation and affection never ended. Dear daughter of the late Alexander and Hazel Craik. Cherished mother of Karen and Catherine and is so loved by her grandchildren, Taylor and Emily. Adored and protected by Maizie. Dear Aunt of her late brother Don's daughters; Laurie, who traveled here to celebrate her Aunt Sandy's 90th; Elizabeth and Diana. Much loved Aunt Sandy to Sue, her flower girl, and Mary Jane, a fellow camper. Special Aunt Sandy to the "London Gang"; Mary Ann, Jacquie, Debbie, Gary, and dearly departed Chris.

She will be fondly missed by many family members, cherished friends, and neighbors near and far.

Sandra was a gentle, kind, well-meaning woman grounded in unselfish love for her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She was a woman who explored and enjoyed many interests; culinary adventures, interior decorating, sewing, winemaking, painting and crafts, theatre, music, and books. Sandra refereed and played basketball and tennis in her younger years. Sandra and Peter were outdoor enthusiasts, who gardened, hiked, and camped across Canada and the USA. A Celtic woman of boundless resilience, courage, resourcefulness, industriousness, and determination who was perhaps a tad headstrong in a well-intentioned way. Sandra was a beautiful woman inside and out, a lady of natural grace and elegance with a wonderful laugh that could light up a room.

A heartfelt thank you and sincere gratitude to Palliative Care Oceanside and to Trillium Lodge Hospice for their exceptional kindness and care towards Sandra, her husband, and her family.

A private gathering will be held at Meadow Lily Farm.

Do not stand

by my grave, and weep.

I am not there,

I do not sleep-

I am a thousand winds that blow

I am the diamond glint on snow

I am the sunlight on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

As you awake with morning's hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circling flight,

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand

by my grave and cry-

I am not there,

I did not die.

-Clare Harner 1934
